Secondary Responsibilities:

➢ Participate in agency and department-wide staff meetings and attends other required

meetings;

Education, Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:

➢ A University degree in the humanities, social sciences or communications discipline. A

combination of education and experience will be considered;

➢ Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role;

➢ Experience in program and/or community development, coordination, marketing and/or liaising;

➢ A thorough understanding of settlement and resources available within the community;

➢ Experience working with refugees is an asset;

➢ Experience and commitment to promoting environments where diversity in background,

thought and practice is welcomed and valued;

➢ The ability to speak another language is an asset;

➢ A Criminal Record Check including a vulnerable sector check in good standing;

➢ Ability to engage the community and members of the public;

➢ Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations or sudden changes;

➢ Proven ability as a quick-thinker and problem-solver;

➢ Strong written and verbal language skills with the ability to captivate and engage an

audience; and

➢ Computer skills: MS Office, graphic design, web

Job Purpose:


Reporting to the Refugee & Immigrant Health and Case Coordination Manager, the Community Development Coordinator will collaborate with the management team and other members of GGP to assist with the development and implementation of strategies and plans to strengthen and expand services aimed at the settlement and integration of newcomers to Canada.




Primary Responsibilities:
The Community Development Coordinator assists in ensuring GGP communication, resources and processes are in place in order to successfully meet the varied and demanding needs of GGP’s clients and the broader community. ➢ Collaborate with GGP program staff to identify gaps in client needs and develop resources to further boost programs and their reach;
➢ Help define and structure goals to maintain and expand client needs, services, and programs and assist with a plan to finance their success;
➢ Work with staff to enhance GGP’s brand by promoting the story of our history, our clients’ successes, programs, and services in order to strengthen the public’s awareness of GGP’s role in the settlement sector;
➢ Keep up-to-date on latest technologies, trends, and applications in social media;
➢ Design and update an effective social media strategy across popular platforms to increase awareness of and access to GGP’s programs and services;
➢ Create and identify social media trends to engage the community;
➢ Manage GGP’s website with relevant and up-to-date information;
➢ Help create and distribute creative content such as newsletters, blog posts, membership campaigns, etc. that educates and entertains our audience in order to positively impact GGP’s outcomes;
➢ Respond to requests for information or support that come in via social media or digital communications;
➢ Track, amalgamate, and analyze data analytics to identify and define audiences and promote GGP’s programs and services; ➢ Build partnerships and develop relationships and connections with the community and business leaders to better engage mainstream services to support clients;
➢ Research services and identify funding opportunities and report them to management; ➢ Raise awareness, engage others, and connect with new supporters in order to better serve our clients; ➢ Remain up-to-date on current fund development programs, practices, and procedures used to assist clients in the non-profit sector and inform leadership of matters that could benefit GGP;
➢ Assist with event planning by working with staff and volunteers; and
➢ Develop and maintain service delivery partnerships with institutions and other community service providers to broaden our outreach to clients and facilitate access to settlement services.
